We’re excited to welcome The Knotty Sisters back to the Y’allternative Market on Main this October!
If you love handmade crochet, adorable plushies, cozy winter wear, and those things that make you stop in your tracks and say, “Oh my gosh, I need that!” - you’re definitely going to want to find Jamie and Mindy at the market.
Meet The Knotty Sisters
Jamie is one half of The Knotty Sisters, a crochet business she runs with her sister, Mindy. Jamie is located in Clarion, while Mindy lives in Story City.
Jamie has been crocheting for over 30 years, and about 10 years ago the sisters decided to take the leap and start selling their creations.
They originally got into vending almost on a whim.... and they’ve never looked back!
“We absolutely love connecting with people at markets and, especially, bringing handmade creations to the kids. Seeing their faces light up when they find that special plushie or creation is one of our favorite parts of what we do. Their smiles truly warm our hearts and keep us going!”
And honestly, we love that at the Market.
Over the years, vending has become about so much more than simply selling their work. The sisters have met wonderful people, made great memories, and found a community that keeps them excited to create. I know we feel very fortunate that they've participated in our Markets! They have been so helpful, encouraging and supportive.
Crochet... and LOTS of Plushies!
The Knotty Sisters create a wide variety of handmade crochet goods, including hats, headbands, home essentials, and lots and lots of adorable plushies!
Their plushies have become some of their biggest sellers, and they make both big, huggable friends and smaller creations that are perfect for little hands.
They also offer custom crochet creations, so if you've got an idea, they love bringing it to life!
One thing Jamie says makes their creations special is that everything is handmade with lots of time, creativity, and love.
Because they make everything themselves, they can offer a wide variety of designs and sizes, along with custom pieces you won't find sitting on a store shelf.
And, as Jamie puts it:
“Plus everyone knows it's always better when it's handmade.”
We couldn't agree more! Read THIS BLOG POST for more on that topic.
What Will They Have at the Y'allternative Market?
The Knotty Sisters are bringing a big variety of large and small crochet plushies, including plenty of smaller creations that would make great stocking stuffers.
They'll also have a wide selection of winter wear, including hats and headbands, along with other handmade crochet goodies.
And, of course, there will be plenty of cute things to make you stop and say:
“Oh my gosh, I need that!”
We have a feeling Jamie may be onto something with that one!
One Knotty Little Fun Fact...
We couldn't finish this spotlight without sharing the story behind their name!
“The Knotty Sisters” is a play on the many knots that create a crochet item—and their sisterly personalities.
As Jamie explains:
“Crochet makes us knotty, but my older sister Mindy is definitely the naughty one!"
We have a feeling we're going to have to keep an eye on BOTH those two at the market!
