We are so happy to welcome Jennel's Fashion and Jennifer Nelson back to the Y’allternative Market!
Jennifer is a talented maker with a background in sewing and a serious appreciation for the tiny details that turn handmade pieces into something special. Her creative business actually began in a slightly different direction... with custom dresses/harnesses for small dogs, inspired in part by her own two Chihuahuas. As an animal lover, making something special for beloved pets is a natural fit.
Over time, Jennifer’s creative journey evolved to include her love of beading, and that is where you’ll find her putting much of her incredible patience and attention to detail to work today.
If you've ever tried working with seed beads, you know just how much patience they require! Jennifer creates beautiful earrings and bracelets featuring intricate patterns and complicated designs, carefully working with those tiny beads one at a time.
One of the most intricate pieces she has ever made was a coin purse made entirely from seed beads --a perfect example of the time, patience, and skill that goes into her work. oin purses can be created by request, allowing you choice of colors and designs.
Not every one of Jennifer's creations is insipred from her creativity. She is able to take inspiration from your pictures and create a simular jewelry piece using your preferred colors.
And Jennifer isn't just talented - she's also generous with what she knows. She has considered expanding Jennel Fashions to include beading classes, and she has already been incredibly helpful to me as I've attempted to learn some basic jewelry-making skills myself. Let's just say I have a new appreciation for how much work goes into those tiny little beads!
Jennifer is a Midwestern girl at heart. She grew up in Illinois and also spent some time living in Arizona before making her way to Iowa. These days, her work takes her throughout Wright and Humboldt counties, and she and her husband, Brian, make their home in Humboldt. Brian is actually a Clarion-Goldfield graduate, so they have a little local connection to the Clarion area, too!
We're thrilled to have Jennifer and Jennel's Fashion returning to the market. Be sure to stop by her booth, take a closer look at her beautiful beaded creations, and appreciate the incredible amount of patience and craftsmanship behind each piece.
Come see Jennel's Fashion at the Y’allternative Market on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM–2 PM at the Dows Community Building!
You might just find yourself taking home a little piece of Jennifer's creativity... and wondering how on earth she managed to make something so intricate out of beads that tiny.
