Sherry Ellis for the Grove & Goods Gallery

Vendor Spotlight

One of the things that makes Dows Market on Main so special is the talented makers and artists who bring their work to our small town for the day. This week we’re excited to introduce you to Sherry Ellis, the artist behind Art by Sherry Ellis for The Grove Goods & Gallery.

Sherry and her husband Kevin launched Grove Goods & Gallery in the summer of 2016, but their inspiration goes back much further, to the Iowa farm where they have lived since they were married in 1983.

On their farm sits an old grove where generations of farm equipment slowly collected over the years. Rather than letting these pieces simply sit unused, Kevin and Sherry began seeing them differently... as pieces of history that could be repurposed into something beautiful and meaningful.

Kevin has always appreciated the antique machinery used by his father and grandparents, while Sherry enjoys giving discarded items new life through creativity. Together they began transforming those forgotten pieces into one-of-a-kind decorative items. Over time, Sherry’s artistic work expanded to include painting on wood, canvas, and watercolor paper.

Today, Sherry spends hours each week in her studio creating original artwork and handmade candles. Her work often blends rustic inspiration with soft artistic touches, making each piece unique. In 2024, Kevin and Sherry also began experimenting with cement designs, creating modern pieces with an earthy, natural feel.

Grove Goods & Gallery has grown beyond their farm and can now be found in boutiques and markets across Iowa and Minnesota. Still, their work remains deeply rooted in the values that inspired it in the first place: creativity, craftsmanship, and finding beauty in unexpected places.

For Kevin and Sherry, their work also carries a deeper meaning. They believe the process of restoring and repurposing old materials reflects the way faith can transform and renew lives.

When you visit Dows Market on Main, be sure to stop by Sherry’s booth to see her watercolor paintings, mixed media artwork, and handmade candles in person. Her work is a wonderful example of what our market is all about: supporting local artists, celebrating creativity, and finding beauty in handmade pieces with a story behind them. Events like this bring together talented makers from across our region, giving shoppers the chance to discover unique items you simply won’t find in big box stores.

Come spend the day in Dows, explore the market, meet the artists and makers behind the products, and support small businesses like Art by Sherry Ellis for The Grove Goods & Gallery. You never know what special treasure you might bring home.
